Fastned wins Swiss tender The tender allows for the construction and 30-year operation of 20 fast charging stations at Swiss motorway service areas
Amsterdam, 7 March 2019. Fastned, a Dutch charging company which is building a European network of fast charging stations, won a tender by the Swiss Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) for 20 fast charging stations. FEDRO is the federal authority responsible for road infrastructure and private road transport in Switzerland. Fastned uses 100% renewable electricity and serves all electric vehicles (EVs).
Currently Fastned has 88 stations operational in the Netherlands and Germany and is expanding its network into the United Kingdom and Belgium. Fastned stations are designed to house multiple 175 kW fast chargers which are upgradable to 350 kW. These high powered chargers are capable of charging EVs up to 100 times faster than at home. The mission of Fastned is to give freedom to the electric driver and thereby accelerate the transition to electric driving. Winning this Swiss tender is an important next step towards Fastned’s European network of fast charging stations.
With this tender FEDRO aims to provide quality charging infrastructure along the national roads in Switzerland. The sites for the charging stations will be contracted for a period of 30 years. The tender allocated 100 locations in 5 packages of 20 sites. All packages contain locations directly along the motorway and are spread out across Switzerland.
