IEA: Put clean energy at the heart of stimulus plans to counter the coronavirus crisis

Fatih Birol, Executive Director at the International Energy Agency, makes the case that stimulus funds should focus on the large scale deployment of clean energy.

There's an excellent case to be made that governments should think about clean energy first and foremost when drawing up plans for funds to stimulate the economy.

"Large-scale investment to boost the development, deployment and integration of clean energy technologies," Birol writes, "should be a central part of governments’ plans because it will bring the twin benefits of stimulating economies and accelerating clean energy transitions."
